Mission & Purpose

Steel City Precision’s sole purpose is the development of the Field precision rifle shooter. Expansion of skill sets beyond flat square ranges is the mission here. With a range fan that can expand to 240 degrees, the field shooter can engage targets from 1,200, 1600, 2,440 and immediately turn around beyond 180 degrees, and shoot out to 1,000 yards. The expansive range fan is perfect or testing wind call accuracy as this is not a “hold left edge” facility.

We are located in central Alabama within approx. 30,000 acres of timberland, encompassing 660 acres of hills and valleys that stretch over 2 miles in a secluded yet convenient location. The development of the property has carefully been planned to maximize what the natural terrain and vegetation can offer the field precision rifle shooter. Many targets are hidden within the terrain to force shooters to scan by eye, and glass to detect targets and come up with a field expedient firing solution. It is not possible to “game” scenario-based stages at this facility. Vegetation and terrain have been maximized to separate teams and staging areas so scenarios can be “blind.”

With no houses nearby, there is no ambient light on the property at night. This creates the ideal training opportunity for night shoots.

Target distances are from contact to 2,440 yards. There are several opportunities out to 800+, including 1,000, 1,200, and 1,600.

There are shooting props available for skill development in our utility range at the main entrance area.

Currently there are 2 structures under construction: a main gate pavilion (with a classroom planned) and a separate pavilion/barn. Both will be completed as soon as possible.
